What is CurtinMoves?
CurtinMoves is a part of Curtin University’s Healthy Campus project.
CurtinMoves aims to help students, staff, and the local community to find ways of increasing their activity levels and connect with others to improve their quality of life.
The CurtinMoves App
The CurtinMoves app will help you track your daily activity as well as provide some encouragement and support.
The app will help you:
- Track your movement and level of activity
- Allow you to join and take part in CurtinMoves challenges
- Build customised training plans
- Interact with your personal trainer
- Enter to win some great prizes
- And much, much more!

What do you get out of it?
University life can and should be a fun and enriching experience. It is a time of life in which you learn new skills, develop lasting friendships, and grow as an independent individual. However, for many students, the pressures of deadlines and study can have adverse effects on their mental health.
Increasing your movement and participating in activities on campus is a great way to start finding ways of coping with stress, the challenges of study, and setting you up for your future life and career.
CurtinMoves will keep you up to date with simple ways you can increase movement and provide you with opportunities to connect with others in a friendly, welcoming environment.
Some of the positive outcomes of increasing your movement are:
- Improved physical health
- Decreased stress levels
- Improved clarity of thinking
- Improved connections with other students and campus life
Our goal is to improve your experience and so have developed a wide variety of options that are available to you all year round!

CurtinMoves is brought to you by Curtin University and UniSport Australia. CurtinMoves is part of the joint initiative with 10 other national universities to help staff, students and community members alike find ways to increase their movement every day.
Curtin University welcomes all staff, students and community members to take advantage of the wide range of sport and fitness facilities, programs and activities held on campus in 2020.

Anyone! It doesn’t matter if you’re a staff, student, alumni or community member you can download and use the app.
YES! The CurtinMoves app will be where we can load your program, let you interact with our equipment and it will allow you to access fun weekly Curtin Challenges! Just sign up for the new app with your previous login details.
MOVEs are the CurtinMoves unit of movement measurement, so the more you move the more you’ll collect. For example, running for 10 minutes at low intensity accumulates about 200 MOVEs, the faster and longer you run, cycle, row, or whatever your favourite exercise is, the more MOVEs you’ll earn. This calculation is based on your weight, so make sure you input this correctly when you sign up!
The Curtin challenges are fun goals to try and achieve, either on your own or in a group, to help motivate you toward reaching your fitness goals. Curtin Challenges are set up every week for you to participate in, but if you and some friends would like to have a special one set up just for you, let one of the CurtinMoves team know and we will see what we can do to help!
CurtinMoves will interact with your smartwatch and ensure that any activity you track through your smartwatch is applied to your CurtinMoves profile. This will help the Curtin gym staff tailor program changes and will also make sure that all your activity will contribute to any MOVES challenges you are taking part in.
Awareness makes a massive difference! Tracking your results means you have real data when trying to achieve your goals! Studies have also shown that the act of tracking our exercise makes us more conscious of our activity and more motivated to get more done!
The CurtinMoves app not only tracks your activity and holds your work out programs. You can also personalise workouts to a specific sport or goal. This will help give you the most personalised workout experience possible!
