Social Sport
Social Sport at Curtin Stadium is a simple and fun way to keep active.
Our weekly competition is open to everyone – students, staff & community members – with any level of sporting ability.
Choose from 9 different sports across 15 categories – with open, women’s, men’s, and mixed teams available.

Social Sport is a great way to meet new people and find regular exercise. So, gather your friends and put together a team or if you would like help finding a team, get in touch.
Games are held on Monday-Thursday evenings between 5.30pm – 10pm.

Game Times: Please note all Curtin Social Sports games are held between 5.30pm – 10pm from Monday till Thursday. Game times are evenly spread across the season for all teams and we do not take specific time requests for game times.

Sports
Basketball
Basketball is a simple game for players of all levels. Dribble and pass the ball down the court to score a winning shot. For a full team you need a minimum of five players. Mixed teams must have a maximum of three males on the court at any given time.
Games are played on our indoor, air conditioned, sprung timber courts.

Beach volleyball
Get down and sandy with the most social of social sports – beach volleyball. The competition is played on our outdoor floodlit beach pits. You will love this game and to get you in the mood for some fun, we play music during matches.
We run four competitions each season:
- Open fours need a minimum of four players, male or female.
- Mixed fours need a maximum of two males in the pit at all times.
- Ladies fours is for females only. Your team will need a minimum of four females.
- Mixed sixes allow a maximum of three males in the pit with six players in total.
Three game sets are played for each competition. The first team to 25 points in set one and two, and 15 points in set three will win the match. Download beach volleyball social competition rules.

Floorball
Floorball is a mix between ice hockey and traditional hockey. This fast paced, fun game is seriously easy to pick up, so even if you have never played before you will be scoring goals in no time.
A team is made up of a minimum of five players, with a maximum of three males on the court at any one time. Team members must wear tops of a similar colour during matches. Floorball is played on our air-conditioned, sprung timber courts, surrounded by a fiberglass rink. Sticks are provided by Curtin Stadium. Mouth and shin guards are optional and must be provided by players.

Futsal
Futsal is one of the fastest growing sports around the world and is becoming hugely popular in Perth! Games are played on our air conditioned, indoor, sprung timber courts.
You will need a minimum of five players to make up a futsal team. Mixed teams must have a maximum of three males on the court at all times. Team players must wear tops of similar colour for matches.

Indoor dodgeball
Test your agility as you duck and dodge your way to victory with Indoor Dodgeball, for summer only! The competition is played on our indoor courts.
We run Indoor Open sixes in the Summer season only. Open sixes allows a combination of male and female players.

Netball
Netball has long been a popular sport in Australia for women, with more and more males catching the netball bug in recent years.
Teams are made up of seven players on the court. Mixed teams are allowed a maximum of three males on the court at one time. Male players must be divided between each court zone (attack – GS or GA, centre – WA, C, WD, defense – GD or GK)
Team players need to wear tops of the same colour for matches. Due to health and safety measures, teams will be required to supply their own netball bibs, we will have bibs for hire at Reception for $15. Games are played on our four outdoor netball courts, with Quick 5’s being played in the stadium.

Ultimate frisbee
Ultimate Frisbee is the ultimate of all social sports. Combining elements of netball, soccer and American football, this is an extremely fun and friendly game. The game is completely self-refereed at all levels relying on honesty and sportsmanship. An experienced Ultimate Frisbee staff member will be available to assist with game rules.
A team is made up of a minimum of seven players with a maximum of five males on the field at all times. Team members must wear tops of the same colour during game matches. Ultimate is played on Edinburgh oval, south of Curtin Stadium.

Touch rugby
Touch Rugby, also known as Touch Football, is a fun way to get out on the field. Dodge your opponents and weave your way across the field for a try. This is a low contact sport. A touch team is made up of a minimum of six players with a maximum of four males on the field at all times. Team members must wear tops of a similar colour during matches. Numbered bibs are provided for by Curtin Stadium.
Touch is played on Edinburgh oval, south of Curtin Stadium.

Grading
To make sure everyone has a fair and fun game, grading will occur in the first two weeks of the competition for evening competitions. There will be no grading for lunchtime competitions. Fixtures will be available on the website.
Forfeit policy
Evening
If your team contacts us before 4.00pm on the day of your game, a forfeit fee will apply equivalent to your weekly game fee.
If your team forfeits after 4.00pm on game day, does not show up for a game, or is more than 10 minutes late to start, a penalty fee will apply which is equivalent to two weekly game fees. All fees must be paid at reception prior to your next game.
If the opposing team has forfeited, a scratch match will be organised where possible. The weekly fee still applies for scratch matches and no refunds will be given.
Game cancellation policy for severe weather
All outdoor sports will continue to run in wet weather. Cancellation will only occur due to severe weather which is deemed hazardous due to strong winds, lightning or hail.
In the event of severe weather, the decision to cancel will be made at 4.00pm on the day of the game by the Sports Program Officer. Team captains will be contacted if this occurs.
